Fields in documents appear as { FORMTEXT }

When you open a TurboLaw document, the gray form fields in the document are all filled with the text { FORMTEXT }. Some fields may be filled with different text, but they will still be enclosed by the "curly" braces (i.e. { }).

This problem is caused by having the option to display form field codes turned "on" in Word. To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

For Word 2003 and earlier

  1. Open Word (or any document that displays the problem)
  2. Click the Tools menu at the top of the screen and choose Options
  3. You will be shown the View tab. Towards the right, un-check the box which says Field Codes.
  4. Click OK.

For Word 2007 and later

  1. Open Word (or any document that displays the problem)
  2. Click the Office Button (the big round button in the top-left corner), or the File button (if using Word 2010), then click Word Options or Options (if using Word 2010).
  3. On the left-hand side, click Advanced.
  4. Scroll down until you reach the section labeled Show document content and then find and un-check the box which says Show field codes instead of their values.
  5. Click OK.

The text which says "{ FORMTEXT }" should now be gone.
