Update Error: problem downloading program update

When attempting to download a program update for TurboLaw, you receive an error message saying that there was a problem downloading the program update. The description of the error says that "an exception occurred during a WebClient request." TurboLaw will then continue trying to update, but the latest version of the program will not be downloaded.

This problem will only occur if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7.

This problem is caused by a permissions problem. TurboLaw is unable to delete a previously downloaded update in order to replace it with a new one.

A fix is available to resolve this problem. To get the fix, click the link below and then download and run the file UpdatePermissionFix.exe:

Depending on your browser, the prompt you receive after you click the above link will vary. If you are using Internet Explorer, choose to Run the file. (If you are using Internet Explorer 9 - the latest version - the prompt will appear at the bottom of your window.) If you are using a different browser, you will only be able to Save the file. Choose to save the file, and once the download is complete, look in your browser's Downloads folder for the file UpdatePermissionFix and double-click it. Depending on your browser, you may see a button or link to open the Downloads folder, or you may have to open the folder manually.

Once you have run the fix, you can check for updates normally in TurboLaw. You will no longer receive the error and you will be able to install the update normally.
