When checking for updates (either manually or automatically) or when trying to register TurboLaw on-line, an error message may appear stating that TurboLaw was unable to register or renew your license. The error message will then list the response given by the registration server, which typically contains an error code and a short description of the problem.
This article provides more detailed descriptions of all of the error codes.
E01 - No Record Found
This error indicates that the registration system was unable to locate the record for your firm. TurboLaw uses your firm's phone number to locate your information; if the phone number you entered on the "My Firm" tab of TurboLaw does not match the one on file for your firm, then you will be unable to register or renew on-line. You can either change the phone number in the "My Firm" tab of TurboLaw or call TurboLaw to update your contact information. Alternatively, you can call to register by phone.
E02 - No Remaining Unused Licenses
This error indicates that you have already used (registered) all of the licenses which are on record for your firm. Each time you register TurboLaw, it counts as one "use" of a license. If you need to re-register after re-installing the software (for example, if you have had a computer crash, or if you are moving to a new computer), you will have to call TurboLaw to let us know so we can reset a license for you. Alternatively, if you still have TurboLaw on an old computer (if you are moving TurboLaw from one computer to another), you can uninstall the program from the old computer. When you do this, it will try to "un-register" the license from the old computer, making it available for you on the new computer. For more information on moving TurboLaw to a new computer, see how to move TurboLaw to a new computer
E03 - Support Expired
This error indicates that your subscription to TurboLaw Updates & Support has expired. If you want to receive continued product updates & technical support, you will have to pay for your subscription.
E04 - No Phone Number Supplied
This error indicates that you have not entered a phone number into TurboLaw yet. Without this information, TurboLaw cannot look up your record. Enter your firm's main phone number on the "My Firm" tab of the TurboLaw Navigator.
E05 - No Key Number Supplied
This error indicates that there was no "key" number in TurboLaw. The key number for TurboLaw is randomly generated each time the program is installed. If the key number is missing, it may be a symptom of an incorrect installation of TurboLaw. You should contact TurboLaw technical support if you receive this error.
E06 - Invalid Key Number format
This error indicates that the "key" number used by TurboLaw to generate your registration code is invalid. This usually indicates tampering by the user, such as an attempt to re-use an old registration code, or to install TurboLaw without paying for an additional license. If you have not tampered with the TurboLaw registration system, you should contact TurboLaw technical support if you receive this error.
E07 - Invalid Phone Number format
This error indicates that the phone number you have entered in TurboLaw contains characters that TurboLaw does not recognize. Look at your phone number on the "My Firm" tab of the TurboLaw Navigator, and make sure you have not included any unusual characters. TurboLaw recognizes most of the common characters you might use in a phone number (e.g., parenthesis, dashes, periods, etc.), but if you have used a character that TurboLaw does not recognize, you will receive this error.
E08 - All of your licenses have already been renewed this year
This error means that all of your licenses have already checked in with TurboLaw's registration system and confirmed their subscription for the year. Because of this, you will no longer be able to receive updates on the computer that receives this message. Sometimes it is possible for a computer to "renew" with TurboLaw more than once, which will cause this message to appear (because one computer has used up more than one renewal). If you are sure that you have an active license for each computer you have TurboLaw installed on, and you are receiving this message, you should call TurboLaw tech support.
E10 - Database Error
This error indicates that there was an error with the registration server. The database may be down for maintenance, or there may be some other error. If you receive this error, you should contact TurboLaw technical support.
E11 - Duplicate Records Found This error indicates that more than one record was found for your phone number. This can happen, for example, if you share office space (and a phone number) with another attorney or firm who also owns TurboLaw. Because of this, TurboLaw cannot tell which record it should use to perform your registration. You will need to contact TurboLaw technical support.
E99 - Unknown Error, cannot continue
This error indicates that there was a serious, unexpected error during the registration process. This error message comes from the registration server, so it does not represent any problem with your TurboLaw installation. However, you should call TurboLaw tech support and report the problem.
