When starting TurboLaw, an error message appears saying that the database could not be opened, and then gives the specific reason as:

Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.DLL' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the path specified.

This error is caused by a missing file in the Microsoft .NET Framework, which is used by TurboLaw. To resolve this error, you must "repair" the Microsoft .NET Framework. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click your Start menu
  2. Open the Control Panel
  3. Open Add/Remove Programs
  4. Scroll through the list until you find the entry for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and click on this item (if you have an entry for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, choose this instead).
  5. Click on the Change or Change/Remove button
  6. Choose Repair and then click Next
  7. When the repair is complete, click Finish. Once you have repaired the Microsoft .NET Framework, you should be able to check for updates in TurboLaw without receiving the error.
